Thanks to everyone who sent words of encouragement
after I shared a recent rejection from an agent. He had requested additional
material (first fifty pages and a ten-page outline) but alas, they rejected it.I shared it with readers several blog posts ago (click here).
I had prepared myself for this, especially after several writers shared similar experiences of getting to the second or third step with an agent, only to get a rejection. I will live. I assured my wife it is okay to leave the sharp stuff in the silverware drawer.
A special thanks to Florence Osmund from the Reader’s Entertainment group on Linkedin. Florence passed on a post from her blog with her best rejections. My favorite is the rejection that ends with a biblical verse.
The day before I received the rejection, my laptop rolled over and died. For a person who does not believe in coincidence, this was a rather prophetic happenstance. I am trying to interpret all the different meanings associated with the two events. Thankfully, I had a back-up file.
I knew my laptop was nearing its final days, so the expense was already in my budget. The biggest hurdle is that the new laptop is outfitted with Windows 8, and along with it a very steep learning curve. I am almost there, however. The next round of queries starts tomorrow.
See ya’ later.
