It does appear those old methods are coming back, with some new wrinkles. I see many people self-publishing parts of their novels (labeled Part I, Part II, and so forth), probably in an effort to get a little more than $2.99 for having written a whole novel. But then they also have the opportunity to change what they write in subsequent "parts" based on reader feedback. Did Dickens do that, too, I wonder, or is that a symptom of the way social media has infiltrated self-publishing?
